China is Serbia's most important trading partner in the Asian region.According to Customs statistics of the People's Republic of China, bilateral trade between China and Cyprus in 2022 will be US33.55 billion, an increase of 10.1% year-on-year, of which China's exports will be US22.18 billion and imports will be US11.37 billion.Serbia mainly exports natural rubber, rubber products, machinery and equipment, cork, wood, etc. to China.On the other hand, China mainly exports machinery and equipment, manufacturing products, clothing, footwear, textiles, chemicals and bulk commodities to Serbia.
The signing of the China-Serbia Free Trade Agreement is an important measure to implement the consensus of the leaders of the two countries, and it is also an important achievement of the third “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Summit Forum.The negotiation of the China-Serbia Free trade Agreement started in April 2023 and was substantially completed at the end of September.Through the free trade agreement, China and Serbia will achieve a high level of mutual openness, establish new institutional arrangements for bilateral economic and trade cooperation, create a more favorable, convenient, transparent and stable business environment for enterprises of the two countries, and inject new momentum into promoting the high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road” and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia.
